VSCE AND VIETNAMESE ENGINEERS CELEBRATE REUNIFICATION DAY AND THE LIBERATION OF SOUTHERN VIETNAM
– April 30, 1975 – More than 5,000 soldiers fell just before the liberation flag was raised atop Independence Palace.
– April 30, 2026 – More than 100 million Vietnamese people across the country turned their hearts toward Ho Chi Minh City to honor the sacrifices and contributions of the heroic generations before them.
– April 30, 1975 – The country was still marked by the smoke and devastation of war.
– April 30, 2026 – Vietnam entered a new era of remarkable national growth and aspiration.
– April 30, 1975 – Challenges surrounded the nation on all sides: devastated infrastructure, divided transportation systems, economic embargoes, and countless wounds of war yet to heal.
– April 30, 2026 – Vietnam established 15 Comprehensive Strategic Partnerships worldwide, achieved GDP growth of 8.02%, and surpassed an economic scale of USD 514 billion.
– April 30, 1975 – Vietnam was among the countries with the lowest average income levels.
– April 30, 2026 – Vietnam’s economy ranked second in Southeast Asia and 32nd globally.

To achieve today’s towering landmark projects and to build the nation’s current foundation, strength, and international standing, today’s generation will forever remember that the value of “peace” was paid for by an entire generation of heroes.
On the occasion of the 51st anniversary of Reunification Day and the Liberation of Southern Vietnam, the Vietnam Society of Civil Engineering would like to express its deepest gratitude to Ho Chi Minh, the Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, and generations of revolutionary soldiers and martyrs who sacrificed their blood and lives for the nation’s independence and freedom.
Continuing this proud legacy, today’s Vietnamese engineers constantly strive to improve their ethics and expertise, continuously learn, innovate, and adopt new technologies to keep “building our country to be more dignified and more beautiful,” as President Ho Chi Minh once envisioned.
